Margo passed away on February 14, 2020, at the age of eighty-six years old. She was the last of the original founders of Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl.

She was the beloved wife of Karl H. Plattner and loving mother of three children: Carol Chaffee, Jackie Plattner, Karl Jr. (Bubbi). Margo had seven grandchildren: Justin, Christopher, Amanda, Michael, Paige, Krystal, and Chase. Margo's great grandchildren are Jayce, Brynne, and Bryce.

Margo was born and raised in Ibreville, Quebec. She was the eighth child of eleven to parents Lillian Poulin and Maurice Boisclair. Margo had a degree in the Bachelor of Science, which she began at River College in Nashua, New Hampshire and graduated at the University of Montreal.

Margo was an avid skier and spent weekends at a cabin that her father owned at Mt. Tremblant. In 1956, she met and fell in love with Karl H. Plattner. The two skied frequently and he taught her the art of how to teach and "SKI WITH ME."

Karl and Margo married on April 22, 1957 and traveled with their Volkswagen Bug throughout the U.S. and Canada, before landing in Boyne Highlands, Michigan where they taught skiing to visitors, including Gerald Ford, who had a love for the sport and bonded with Margo and Karl.

Karl heard news about the development of a new ski area in New York that was being backed by Jimmy Hammerstein and he and Margo traveled to Hunter, NY.

Margo and Karl endured through the trial and tribulations of Hunter Mountain's early development and were offered by Orville and Izzy Slutsky to own and operate the ski school. The husband and wife run business became The Karl Plattner Ski School and was renowned in the ski world. Margo represented the heart of the ski school and Karl was the soul. Karl and Margo  ran the ski school from 1959 to 1995 and then ventured over to Windham Mountain, where Karl became the Ambassador of Skiing.

Margo worked in Real Estate with Harold Low in 1994. In 2012, Karl and Margo retired in their beloved town of Hunter. Margo's heart was full of love and she let it guide her through her life. She was always first to lend a helping hand and opened her heart and home to those friends, family, and coworkers. Her marriage to Karl will be remembered as a testament of teamwork and everlasting love.

Rest in peace Margo and may the slopes of heaven embrace you and Karl.

Service and calling hours will be February 22, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Aston & Basagic Funeral Home 7742 Main Street, Hunter, NY 12442. Telephone (518)-263-4719.

In lieu of flowers, Margo has asked that donations be made to: Mountainside Residential Care Center, 42158, Route 28, Margaretville, NY 12455.

I'm so sorry for yours and the family's loss. Your mom was the most hip and nonjudgmental mom that always treated us like young people not just kids that had no say....
May she rest in eternal peace and my prayers are sent to you all during this very hard and sad time....Much love sent ❤🙏
