John was the grandson and grandnephew of the inventors of the Klieglight. After years of international travel with his parents and sisters, he took the lead of the iconic Kliegl Brothers in New York, following the tragic death of his father. He ushered that company through the years, and enjoyed his retirement.
A life-long outdoors man, there was nothing he loved more than a long walk in the woods with his favorite children, his dogs. He is predeceased by his father, Herbert Kliegl, his mother, Ruth Bungay Kliegl, and his sisters Patricia Ann Nagele and Joan Bungay Turley. He is survived by his sons Robert and John III, daughter Karen, and cherished granddaughter, Hailey, who are all quite sure he is having a great time right now looking down at them from above with his wife, Sue, and the dogs who he lost along the way. A memorial will be held at a later date in the summer of next year in Haines Falls, NY.
