Anne (Rita) Tiutko’s love for her family did not end with her death. Rita passed away April 17 at the age of 90 peacefully in her sleep. Her loved ones will continue to honor her memory.
Rita came to The United States in 1958 with her husband Ivan Tiutko and settled in New York City until moving to the Catskills in 1979. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Anne. She loved to garden, crochet, and read. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and great grandchildren. She loved to tell stories of her childhood and pass on her history. Her favorite pastime was to enjoy a glass of TiaMaria while spending a quiet evening with family. She was not only active in her grandchildren’s lives but also very present in her great grandchildren’s lives. Rita is preceded by her husband Ivan Tiutko, her daughter Anne Rappleyea, and her life partner Nelson Higgins. Anne is survived by her daughter Susan Haines and husband Ronald Haines, grandson Robert Haines and wife Rachel Haines, grandson Andrew Haines and wife Elizabeth Haines, grandson Paul Rappleyea and family, Nelson Jr Higgins and wife Joanne and family, and nephew John Got and wife Marilyn and family. Rita was blessed with three great grandchildren whom she deeply loved Aurora, Anastasia, and Owyn. She is also survived by cousins in England, Australia, and Thailand. Due to current conditions services will be determined at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers and cards the family asks for donations to Alzheimer’s association found at act.alz.org.
