Henry “Hank” Conrad Weismann III was taken from us suddenly on August 30, 2023, at only 78 years of age. Henry was loved. He left this world in his daughter’s arms.

Henry’s final days were spent in high spirits, enjoying quality time with his daughter, reminiscing with a close friend, chatting with people he loved, assisting clients remotely, and happily anticipating his son’s visit. Always wise, he also ate his dessert first that day.

Leaving a substantial hole in the many lives he touched, Henry was well known throughout Greene County and beyond for his prolific intelligence, vast knowledge of all things electrical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical, his ability to fix almost anything, and, most significantly, his enduring kindness, remarkable generosity, and infectiously robust laugh.

Henry was always working hard and helping people. He’d give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back. Since his untimely passing, folks have shared fond memories of Henry as a beloved father, a great big brother, a best friend, a hardy mentor, a tender-hearted giver, a fixer of things, an observant doer, a creative genius, a practical problem-solver, a humbly private thinker, a quietly sensitive soul, a charmingly jovial good sport, and a reflective listener (even if he fell asleep mid-chat), among other precious roles he filled.

Meaningful work was vital to Henry, so it should be no surprise that his work life was inseparable from his identity. A Smithtown High School alumnus and graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Henry first exercised his exceptional mind and work ethic on classified projects as a Grumman aerospace engineer. Later, he started his own company as a multi-trade contractor and settled in the quaint mountaintop village of Tannersville with his wife and children. He came to call the mountaintop home, and the people there became like extended family.

Predeceased by parents Charlotte and Henry Conrad Weismann, Jr., Henry is survived by his spouse, Mary Celia O’Regan, children Maitely Rose Alice Weismann (Matthew Paleologos) and Henry C. Weismann IV (Amy), sisters Jeannie Weismann (Jerry Kallestad), Mary KW Lucy (Mark Lucy) and Annie Weismann Gehring, in addition to his cherished nieflings, cousins and friends.

In his absence, a wake of broken hearts trail, but he’d want us all to celebrate a life well-lived because, in his words, “Oh well. It is what it is.”

A Celebration of Henry’s Life is planned for Thursday, November 16th, in Tannersville. RSVP: mykeeper.com/profile/Henry/
