Ila Marie Goodrich (Decker), 91 years of age, passed peacefully on October 22, 2023.  She was born on January 7, 1932 in Westikill, NY to the late Ellsworth & Cora Decker. She married the love of her life, Leon, by whom she is predeceased. For over 71 years, they built and lived a beautiful life together in Hunter and Okeechobee, FL.

Ila was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking birthday cakes for her grandkids, crocheting, playing piano and singing. She loved winters in Okeechobee where she could line-dance and do water aerobics with her ladies. Ila loved traveling, with her husband, and they visited all 50 states. Ila would not pass up a visit to a lighthouse and took delight in train spotting. She was an honorary member of Hunter Fire Co and an associate member of Lexington Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary

Ila is survived by her daughter Deborah Allen (Walter) & son Gary (Kate). Her four grandchildren, Kim, Doria, Bobby and Jared brought her so much joy - but her eight great grandchildren really made her smile shine. Ila is also survived by her adoring nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers and her favorite fur baby, Susie.

Calling hours will be held at Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, Main St. Hunter, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, October 27. There will be a graveside service at 11:00am on Saturday, October 28, at the Maplewood Cemetery, Jewett.

Ila volunteered with the Greene County Department of Human Services in Jewett for 24 years. She donated 1,615 hours delivering meals and assisting in the kitchen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greene County Dept. of Human Services-Jewett Site or Greene County Dept. of Human Services- AmeriCorps Senior RSVP Volunteer Program.
