Jerald “Jerry” Ellsworth Meigs, resident of Tannersville, NY passed away tragically in a house fire on Tuesday August 6, 2019 at the age of 29.
Jerry was born in the Catskills during a major snowstorm, entering this world in a big presence. He was larger than life, in both personality and size. You could often find him on an adventure always enjoying the mountains he grew up on and loved. Jerry adored his wife and his children more than life. If you caught yourself in a conversation with him, he wouldn’t hesitate to boast about his two beautiful ginger children. He was a true jack of all trades. He could fix cards, cook up a meal out of anything in the fridge, paint, draw, sing, and make you laugh harder than you ever have. He was so generous that he would drop everything to help a friend in need, whether it be to give them a ride or a few dollars, even if he had nothing. He was spiritual beyond our comprehension and could easily make a freestyle rap song to explain it all. He was the self-proclaimed “Emperor of Tannersville” and had many followers. Some of his favorite things to do were having movie nights with his family, playing cards with friends, going to the local swimming holes and wearing his crocs and shorts all year round. Jerry is survived by his wife Kristin, his children Rowyn and Elijah, his mother, Pamela Graham Meigs, his father Jerald L. Meigs and stepmother Patricia Meigs, his sisters Charlotte Poladian (Andrew) and Michelle Meigs, his niece Raeghan and Sawyer Poladian, and nephew Hunter Meigs. Addition to countless extended family members and his beloved “Crew” There will be a wake held Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 at the Aston Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main St. Hunter, NY 12442 A funeral will be held beginning at 1:00 PM, Sunday August 11, 2019 at Kaaterskill United Methodist Church, 45 North Lake Road, Haines Falls, NY.
