The life of George J. Tackach, Jr., of Tannersville, NY, ended on August 30, 2022. He was 72 years old.
George was born in 1950 and spent the first 63 years of his life in New Jersey. He was the son of the late George and Loretta Tackach and is survived by his brother James of Narragansett, Rhode Island; his cousin John Tackach and wife Andrea and their sons Jeffrey and Gregory of Poughkeepsie, NY; his cousin Raymond Buchko and wife Deborah and their children Raymond and Samantha of Neenah, Wisconsin; many friends in New Jersey and New York; and his loyal dog Bear, now lovingly cared for by Jill Trainor. George earned BA and MBA degrees from Rutgers University-Newark and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. For forty years, until his retirement in 2013, he worked as an accountant and financial analyst in companies in New York City and New Jersey and resided in Bloomfield, NJ. George retired in 2013 and moved to Tannersville, where he had kept a vacation home since the 1980s for winter skiing and summer golfing and fishing. He enjoyed these outdoor activities as well as happy hours at the Hunter Mountain ski resort and a variety of social activities on the mountain with neighbors Bob and Beth Janizewski, Ed Foxx, and other friends. George suffered from Parkinson's Disease during the last few years of his life. With the assistance of dedicated caretakers and friends - Louisa Battista, Deb Shultis, Lisa Shultis, Alley Lemus, Jill Trainor - George was able to continue to live at his Tannersville home until January 2022. He died at Greene Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Catskill, New York. Friends of George are invited to an afternoon of memories on Sunday, September 25, 1:00-3:00PM, at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, 7742 Main Street, Hunter, New York.

George will be missed. I only knew George casually at the gym at GAF where we worked. He was always in good humor and dedicated to the gym.

George was a wonderful man. We worked together at GAF. I tried to find him unsuccesfully in 2018.My prayers to all who assisted him. Such a terrible disease for such a vibrant man. Rest in Peace George Rita
