Charles D. Blaney, 93, died unexpectedly December 2, 2022, at Albany Medical Center. Charles was born October 16, 1929, in Philadelphia PA, the son of John and Sarah Blaney. He graduated from Hunter Tannersville Central School, Class of 1949.
Following graduation, Charles served with the U.S. Army 1951-1952 during the Korean War. He married Jean Lenox on April 5,1953 in Westkill, NY and settled in Tannersville, NY. Charles and Jean celebrated 69 years of marriage on April 5, 2022. Charles was employed as an Operating Engineer at Callanan Industries for 40 years. He was also employed by Kevin Thompson Jr. for an additional 10 years. Charles was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 158 out of Albany, NY for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Bunt Brewer Post 165 of Tannersville, NY American Legion for 66 years. Charles was a member of the Immaculate Conceptions Catholic Church in Haines Falls, NY. Charles, known as " Charlie" to the local community, where he proudly participated in the Communities Veterans Parades, Memorial Day Parades, visited the Elementary School in their Ceremonies when they honored our Veterans. He also like going to Stewarts for coffee with his friends and visiting with the town locals. In addition to his parents John and Sarah Blaney, he was predeceased by his Brother Anthony Blaney, Niece Kathleen Blaney, Nephew Anthony Blaney Jr., and his Son Michael Blaney. Surviving in additonal to his Wife Jean Blaney of Tannersville, Daughter Charlene Blaney of Poughkeepsie, Granddaughter Morgan Blaney of Poughkeepsie. A service of Remembrance will be held in the Spring of 2023. Arrangements by the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home, Hunter, NY.
